 | The play on all courts will start at 9 AM sharp.
Captains’ meeting will be held at 8.30 AM in old gym. Each team must have a
representative present at the captains’ meeting. |
 | Indoor men’s USVBA (six player) rules (with some
exceptions) will apply even when less than six players are
present on a court. Minimum 4 players are required to play a game. One
female player must be on court at all times to play an official game.
Teams assigned to a net will play and provide referees, as the case maybe, as
per the schedule provided. |
 | No more than 8 minutes is allowed between two matches.
Each game of the match will be separated by no more than 3 minutes. |
 | All games are to 21 points (25 Points for Advance Rec.
Div) unless specified otherwise. A team must hold 2-point advantage to win (23
point , 27 point and 17 point caps for 21 point, 25point and 15 point games
respectively). The score sheet provided will clearly state this. |
 | Only one attempt to serve is allowed. Dropping the ball,
unless instructed to, after the whistle will result in a side out. All players
except server must be fully on the court and not touching any boundary lines
when ball is served. If the ball being served
comes in contact with ceilings, beams, or any other off court object
(including raised hoops), it will result
in a side out. Contact of Served Ball with Fixed hoops (in
the back on server side) in old gym will also result in a side out.
|
 | Since there is not lot of room behind the courts,
stepping in with one foot at the time of contact with the ball would not be
considered a foot fault as long as the following two conditions are met: |
 | In case a serve is executed before referee’s whistle, the referee must
allow another chance to serve. |
 | Let or Net serve is permitted. |
 | Uneven Open hand reception
of first ball over is OK as long as the ball is not lifted,
redirected or thrown. |
 | The ball may be played with any part of the body.
|
 | The play ball is considered dead if it touches
the surrounding walls or curtain. Play ball off the ceiling or beams is
fair as long as it has not crossed the plane of net or has substantially
changed direction from the middle beam. For example, if the ball hits on the
inside of the beam and is redirected back into the court without crossing the
plane, the ball will be considered dead. However if the ball hits the
bottom of the beam or touches inside of the beam while going straight up, and
still stays on the court without breaking the plane, its a fair ball and can
be played. Ball contact with the following off or on court intruding objects
during a rally may require (except in case of a serve) a replay at the
discretion of the referee: |
1.
Back basketball Boards/hoops (dead if contact with side hoops in old gym)
2.
Raised Basketball Boards in Gym # 1 (New Gym)
·
A player may not :
·
Touch the net with any part of the body. (Incidental
contact with hair, clothing etc. is OK)
·
Cross over to the other court under the net. (
Stepping on centerline is not crossing over)
·
Interfere with opposing player under the net.
·
Hit (offensive move) the ball before it has broken the plane of
the net.
·
Reach over the net to block unless three contacts, on opponents
side, have been completed or the referee finds that no obstruction in play was
caused by penetration. Under no circumstances the ball will be hit before it has
crossed the plane of the net.
·
make deliberate noise or gestures with a sole objective to
interfere in the play on the opponents side.
·
receive the ball with open hands unevenly at anytime (except

·

to rebound off the net.
Walking behind any of the courts is NOT permitted
at ANY TIME during the tournament is in progress. Access to and from
